Buriram Business Group has invested 120 million baht to sign a 2-years contract to host the greatest car racing in Asia “Super GT” “Buriram United Super GT 2014”, revealing the readiness of Buriram United International Circuit which could accommodate up to one million spectators

Newin Chidchob created a phenomenal global furor with the announcement to invest annually 60 million baht for a 2-years license of the car racing “ Buriram United Super GT 2014” at Buriram United International Circuit. The construction of the circuit is expected to be completed in October 2014 with grand opening scheduled in the same year.

On August 11^th, 2013, Buriram United International Circuit or BRIC held a press conference in becoming the official license holder of car racing “Buriram United Super GT 2014” with Mr. Masaaki Bandoh, chairman of GTA Co.,Ltd  along with the press who were invited to visit the construction progress. The event ended with a major football match between Buriram United VS Muang Thong United at Thunder Square I-Mobile Stadium Buriram.

 

Mr Newin Chidcob, the president of “Thunder Castle” Buriram United as the project chairman of Buriram United International Circuit project said that the objective of the contract signing ceremony is “to own the license of Super GT which is the most greatest super car racing in Asia and is known as the fastest GT car racing in the world.  It is one of our activities to offer to those who love speed to be able to participate in this world-class car racing at the best quality standard circuit without having to travel overseas. In the future, we will offer more exciting events which is part of our goal in making Buriram United International Circuit or BRIC to become an international racing circuit, hosting major world-class tournaments. Thailand will have a world-class motor sports circuit for the first time in Buriram. The province will no longer be a by-pass city but the main destination that people have to visit this best sports city in the kingdom.

 

For the readiness of the circuit, it plans to hold a grand opening in 2014. BRIC will be one of the circuits to collect ranking points for Super GT racing tournaments in both GT500 and GT300 models. Moreover, Thailand has the right to send representative to join the tournament at this circuit that was designed by world-class motor sports designer Hermann Tilke from Germany who has experiences in designing over 60 F1 and Moto GP circuits worldwide. Of which, some 15 circuits has been held for F1 tournaments. With Mr. Tilke’s reputation and accomplishment that has been widely accepted by global car racers, car racers would enjoy the fun and excitement at the circuit, more importantly, spectators would surely be excited and impressed with these world-class motor sports tournaments.

For the BRIC construction progress on a 1,000-rai plot of land that could accommodate 50,000 spectators, the construction is set to be completed on schedule within one year. It will be a modern car racing circuit with a distance of 4554 kilometers per laps with 12 turns that could accommodate the speed up to 315 km/hour and at 200km/hour to 300 km/hour in turns.  The design around the grand stand for spectators was based on the sun and wind direction and with a well-planned visions, it will be the only circuit in the world that spectators could 100% see all the turns. It will be very challenging for speed car racers and motor sports lovers to test the circuit which is set to be completed in October 2014. One of the hi-lights of the circuit is the 5-star Buriram United International Circuit Hotel for visitors who can see the view of the circuit from their rooms.

Mr. Newin concluded that although the license fee is high, he is confident that it is worthwhile as it would make people worldwide recognize Thailand and Buriram as well as stimulate the economic of the country and the province. From the business development plan, the circuit is expected to draw at least 1,000,000 people per year.

Mr. Masaaki Bandoh, chairman of GTA Co.,Ltd revealed about giving the license in Thailand that BRIC has obtained the license to host the “Buriram United Super GT” car racing along with the rights to live broadcast in the country as well as to sell and distribute tickets for the tournament for 2
