BANGKOK, 2 March 2010 (NNT) — The Commerce Ministry pointed to the global economy and internal politics as major factors influencing the Thai economy this year.
Permanent Secretary for Commerce, Yanyong Poungrat, stated that the counry’s economy this year would be mainly affected by the improving situation of the global economy and internal politics as well as the control of commodity prices by the Ministry.
The Commerce Ministry’s personnel indicated that all business operators were asked to keep their product prices until the end of March. He said, in case of unchanged costs, the ministry would consider pegging the price for another quarter.
He also believed the uptrend of this year GDP of 3.3-5.3% was due to the expansion of exports, appreciated agricultural product prices in the market and a good outcome of the Strong Thailand Scheme.
