BANGKOK, 4 April 2011 (NNT) – Car reservations at the 32nd Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) have already surpassed 21,000 units in the first nine days of the event, with Japanese brands dominating the market.
As of 2 April, reservations stood at 21,571 cars. Toyota took the lead with 5,284 cars, which accounted for 24.50% of the total cars reserved. Honda and Nissan followed with 3,661 cars and 2,243 cars, which accounted for 16.97% and 10.40% respectively.
Last year, total reservations were recorded at 27,878 cars. Toyota was the leader with 6,943 cars, accounting for 24.90% of the total cars reserved. Nissan and Isuzu followed with 3,675 cars and 3,500 cars, which accounted for 13.8% and 12.55% respectively.
This year’s event will continue until 5 April 2011, when total reservations throughout the 12-day exhibition will be concluded at the public’s curiosity to learn if the tally will break last year’s record or not amid the rising fuel costs.
In the current exhibition, many car makers have introduced smaller sized, energy-saving vehicles such as eco-friendly and hybrid cars as well as those using alternative energy running on electricity and compressed natural gas (CNG).
