BANGKOK, 11 August 2009 (NNT) – The government has been advised to revoke the fuel levies, especially for diesel, collected to the State Oil Fund for one year.
Secretary-General of the Land Transport Federation of Thailand, Mr. Thongyu Khungkant, reasoned that the revocation of the levies would help relieve burdens of transport entrepreneurs’ costs of production.
Mr. Thongyu also suggested the government to call off its oil excise tax collection, and establish a fund worth 20 billion baht to assist transport entrepreneurs. He also urged the government to push the energy matter into the national agenda, and impose a clear-cut policy on the consumption of alternative energy.
