BANGKOK, 16 August 2009 (NNT) – Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva travelled to Suvarnabhumi Airport yesterday to rid deceitful taxi drivers, deceptive guides, and other ill-intended gangs there in order to regain tourist confidence in using airport services.
Mr. Abhisit yesterday made a video record of his weekly talk show at the airport with Mr. Serirat Prasutanond, the President of the Airports of Thailand Public Company Ltd, and Mr. Niran Thiranartsin, the Director of the Suvarnabhumi Airport. While recording the TV program, Mr. Abhisit toured the duty- free shops in the airport and inspected the taxi terminal. This highly interested a lot of passengers.
After his inspection, the Prime Minister asserted that he would task the relevant agencies to submit a report on the problems occurring at the airport to his deputy, Suthep Thaugsuban who would present such issues to the cabinet meeting. He assured that measures would be ruled out to eradicate these problems in order to make the tourists confident in their travel to Thailand.
He added that he had instructed the authorities to tightly maintain the security and safety in the airport as well as to facilitate the tourists who used service of the airport.
