BANGKOK, 18 August 2009 (NNT) – Lawyer of the National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) is not confident the police and the Attorney-General Office will be able to bring former Minister Mr.Adisai Potharamik to be convicted in the rubber plant corruption case on September 21.
NCCC’s lawyer Mr.Jesada Anujaree said that after the former Education Minister and former Commerce Minister Mr.Adisai Potharamik did not appear to hear the court’s verdict, an arrest warrant was issued by the court for the police to bring him to listen to the verdict on September 21. But if he was in foreign countries, the Attorney-General Office had to coordinate with his country of residence to bring him back. If he was really staying in the United States for medical treatment as he said, it would not be difficult to bring him back, because Thailand and the US had extradition agreement. However, he did not expect much, because of the time constraint of only 30 days.
