BANGKOK, 26 August 2009 (NNT) – Interior Minister and Bhumjaithai Party leader Chavarat Charnvirakul believed that Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva would be able to find a good solution to the new police chief appointment controversy.
Mr Chavarat asserted that the conclusion on whether Inspector-General Police General Pratheep Tanprasert would be supported as the new Royal Thai Police Commissioner-General would be made in the next Police Commission meeting. The Bhumjaithai Party leader also voiced confidence in the Prime Minister’s ability to wisely solve all problems surrounding the police chief appointment and select the most suitable candidate for the post. At the same time, Mr Chavarat rejected the speculation that the Democrat Party was conducting a political game after the Prime Minister had refused to sign the approval of the cabinet meeting’s special agenda to appoint the new Permanent-Secretary for Commerce. He confirmed that the Prime Minister’s decision was not affected by the Bhumjaithai Party’s disagreement on his nomination of Pol Gen Pratheep as the new police chief. |
