PHUKET, 29 August 2009 (NNT) – The Phuket International Airport saw a revenue increase in August after suffering from the economic downturn, according to Phuket International Airport Director Pratuang Sornkham. The airport expected that a number of passengers at the end of 2009 would be over 6.5 million.
In regards to the Phuket International Airport’s development plan for the year 2010 to 2013, Mr Pratuang said that the Phuket Airport would be able to accommodate more than 12.5 million passengers in 2013 and accept 21 airplanes at the same time, compared to 15 at the present.
The Phuket International Airport earned 900 million baht from January to August this year from passengers, airport fees, and landing fees.
Mr Pratuang said there were 58 airlines and approximately 200 flights daily at the airport with about 5 million passengers from January to August 2009. The airport has expected to see more passengers at the end of this year due to road shows from China, South Korea, and Canada.
