NCCC member’s former home bombed; no one hurt

BANGKOK, Sept 11 (TNA) – A bomb was thrown in the a home which was formerly owned by National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) member Vicha Mahakun, but no one was hurt, according to police.

The home is located in Bang Plad district and while the explosion damaged the garage roof and nearby houses, the residence itself had minor damage from the bomb.

The police also found the fragments of an M-213 bomb on the premises.

The house was formerly owned by Mr Vicha, who sold the property to a university lecturer in July, but she had not yet moved into the house.

Police believed the assailant intended to threaten rather than to kill as the whoever made the attack should have thrown the bomb into the house itself if he wanted to kill someone.

Mr Vicha is one of the NCCC members who ruled on Monday that criminal charges should be brought against former prime minister Somchai Wongsawat, former deputy premier Gen Chavalit Yongchaiyu, and seven high-ranking police officers including national police chief Pol Gen Patcharawat Wongsuwan in connection with the police crackdown on People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) protesters on October 7 last year.
