TCC Chairman demands peaceful rally

BANGKOK, 19 September 2009 (NNT) – Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce Dusit Nontanakorn urged the United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) to run its rally peacefully and not create impacts on the economy while confirming that the Internal Security Act would not affect the international confidence.

Amidst the UDD demonstration today, Mr Dusit demanded all sides to prioritize the country’s benefit by not causing more trouble. He emphasized that Thailand had been hit hard enough by the global economic crisis and thus encouraged all to join hands in seeking the best solutions to the current problems.

Meanwhile, Mr Dusit assured that foreigners well understood the government’s purpose behind the Internal Security Act enforcement within Dusit district of Bangkok, which was to avoid violence beforehand. He insisted that the Act had been imposed in many countries under similar circumstances.
