PM: only one position involved in the next Cabinet reshuffle

BANGKOK, 26 May 2009 (NNT) – Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva affirmed that only Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperative would be involved in the Cabinet reshuffle.

The Prime Minister Abhisit said that he had been informed of Mr Chartchai Pookayaporn’s press conference declaring his resignation from the ministerial post already. However, the Prime Minister added that he did not know the detail of the matter yet.

Regarding the resignation of the Minister, Interior Minister Chavarat Charnvirakul as Bhumjaithai Party Leader had sent a letter to the Prime Minister already; however, the Prime Minister said that he had not read the letter yet, so he still did not know the new Minister’s name.

As for the cabinet reshuffle, Prime Minister Abhisit affirmed that he would reshuffle the position of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperative only, adding that other coalition parties still had not given him a proposal for the cabinet reshuffle of other positions.

The Prime Minister said the process for reshuffling the new Minister would be done step by step. Nevertheless, he elaborated that the new Minister must be able to carry on the existing policy of the Ministry and be capable of solving the agricultural problems as well.
