BANGKOK, 4 October 2009 (NNT) – The Prime Minister urges all relevant authorities to closely monitor the flood situations in several inundation-hit provinces and to promptly provide assistance to flood victims.
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva stated that he would be ready to visit the flood-affected zones to give moral support and relief to the affected residents, who have been severely hit by the floods after it was reported that a large number of provinces in the north, northeastern and southern regions have currently experienced flooding and rising water level after heavy rains.
The Prime Minister instructed the residents throughout the nation to continuously follow up the weather reports released by the Department of Meteorological Department while urging all ministries to coordinate with all affected provinces to provide utmost assistance to troubled local residents.
In addition, the Prime Minister said Thailand was also sending necessary supplies such as rice, medical equipments, electricity generators to the two neighboring countries, the Philippines and Indonesia, which were enormously hit by powerful typhoon and earthquake resulting in heavy casualties of death and injuries.
