Thailand to have best economic development in ASEAN

The Deputy Government Spokesperson declared Thailand would replace Singapore in terms of an ASEAN economic leader, standing in the front row, due to economic stimulus packages.

Mr. Watchara Kanika, Deputy Government Spokesperson voiced confidence that the government would be capable of maintaining the political stability along with constantly stimulating the economy through the Strong Thailand scheme. To do so, in the next three years the country’s economic status could be stronger and higher than Singapore, the region’s probably all-time number one, and could once again could play a leading role in Asia’s or even the world’s economy.

Amidst the rumors that the economy might not yet recover, and face the W-shaped recovery instead of the V-shaped projection, the government still expected economic indexes to improve. He exemplified that the unemployment rate was better, compared with a considerably higher level previous to the government’s appointment. This being a result of the Tonkla Archeep project (sprout of profession).

The deputy spokesperson claimed that the economy was constantly growing even in the midst of political uncertainties. In tourism, he underlined that the number of tourists could reach over 14 million with the income of at least 500-900 billion baht. It was a huge amount of money, insisted Mr. Watchara.

Thailand’s only strength still laid in agriculture which Mr. Watchana claimed the country was on the right track of development, owing to the continuation of transport system and infrastructure strengthening. Furthermore, the Creative Economy was another factor helping the economy since the high potential of Thais’ creativity could be supported, noted Mr. Watchara.

The deputy spokesperson still showed concern about political differences, the only deterrent against the economic development.

Mr. Watchara wished that one day the political differences could be overcome if relevant sectors used reasons, and did not resort to violence. With the political stability coupled with the Strong Thailand scheme, aimed at developing the country’s macro-economy, Thailand could reach its goals and become the region’s leader in the near future.
