BANGKOK, 19 October 2009 – The mobile Cabinet meeting this Tuesday will focus on the country’s preparations to host the 15th ASEAN Summit from 23 to 25 October 2009, according to Prime Minister’s Office Minister Satit Wonghnongtaey.
Mr Satit stated that the mobile cabinet meeting on Tuesday would take place at the Dusit Thani Hua Hin Hotel in Cha-am district in the western province of Phetchaburi. He stressed that the duty of Thailand, as the incumbent ASEAN Chair to host the summit was very important for the country before handing the chairmanship over to Vietnam.
The minister however accepted that the coalition government was concerned over traffic problems in the summit venues. He said public relations activities on the matter were needed in order to prevent affecting the local people too much.
Mr Satit added that the Board of Directors of the Mass Communication Organization of Thailand (MCOT) was summoned to present the “TV ASEAN” project to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Monday. A press conference on the project will be held on Tuesday.
