Surin believes the dispute between Thailand-Cambodia would not topple the ASEAN Summit

ANGKOK, 22 October 2009 (NNT) – ASEAN Secretary General believed the dispute over the Preah Vihear Temple would not obstruct the ASEAN Summit.

The ASEAN Secretary General, Mr. Surin Pitsuwan claimed that ASEAN aims to initiate the ASEAN Charter toward ASEAN Community by 2015. ASEAN is watched by many countries as five members of the G20 are from East Asia.

The ASEAN Secretary General believes the Summit would proceed successfully. The dispute issue between Thai-Cambodia over the Preah Vihear temple would not topple the Summit. Whether the issue will be brought up at the Summit or not, depends on country leaders involved.
