DOE Deputy Director: Employment rate in October rose by over 120,000 persons

Bangkok, 28 October 2009 (NNT)-Deputy Director General of the Department of Employment (DOE) specified that the employment rate in October rose by over 120,000 with the overall improvement of the economy.

Ms Songsri Boonba, the Deputy Director General of DOE revealed that the improved situation of employment was due to the economy also improving. As for the reported information on 1 October 2009, the firms notified their requirement of employees in diverse careers for 121,056 positions. The numbers of candidates in the budget year of 2009 totaled 1,330,000 persons which could be occupied by 500,000 people. The employment in the first 9 months of 2009 compared to last year showed a decrease in requirement.

The Deputy Director General added that from October 2008 to September 2009, the insured who registered for unemployment compensation was over 700,000 people. About 338,950 people had already been employed. The unemployed registering during 1-15 October 2009 totaled 27,620 people, 16,851 of them had been hired.
