BANGKOK, 10 November 2009 (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban slams ousted Thai premier Thaksin Shinawatra’s interview given to Times Online, saying the interview was made only for Mr Thaksin’s personal gain.
Mr Suthep stated that the interview violated the monarchy and hurt the feelings of Thai people. The Deputy PM said the Thai government, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, would urgently clarify the matter with foreign press members to protect the monarchy, the highly respected institute of Thai people.
The Deputy PM added that Mr Thaksin was trying to use the neighboring country as his base to harm Thai people. The Thai government would closely monitor his movements, he said.
According to Mr Suthep, the Office of the Attorney-General had prepared a letter to extradite the ousted PM back to Thailand.
Cambodia confirmed Mr Thaksin had arrived to Phnom Penh on Monday to attend a meeting of Cambodian economists as economic advisor to the Cambodian government.
