BANGKOK, 16 November 2009 (NNT) – The Opposition Puea Thai Party is seeking dissolution of the New Politics Party after Puea Thai was accused by New Politics of being involved in the recent bomb explosion at Sanam Luang on Sunday night.
Puea Thai Party Spokesperson Prompong Nopparit denied that his party had nothing to do with the bombing taking place during a rally of the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD). He added that Puea Thai would file lawsuits against New Politics Leader Sondhi Limthongkul who blamed Puea Thai for the explosion.
Mr Prompong said his party had requested the Election Commission to dissolve New Politics and remove the electoral right of its executives.
About ten people have been injured from the bomb blast during the PAD protest on Sunday night.
Mr Prompong also threatened that the Puea Thai Party would file a complaint against the government for negligence of duty if it neglected to take serious action against the PAD and Mr Sondhi for their previous charges, including the seizure of Suvarnabhumi Airport last year.
