BANGKOK, 30 November 2009 (NNT) – The government will provide electricity to shortage areas nationwide by 2011, according to the Prime Minister.
Speaking on his weekly talk show “Confidence in Thailand with Prime Minister Abhisit”, the Prime Minister assured that the government would speedily accommodate electricity in Bangkok and remote zones within 2011 following the report that approximately 90,000 families in up-country provinces were still experiencing electricity shortages. He said the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) would be in charge of installing the facility in unregistered residences in Bangkok while the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) has also been assigned to map out implementation plans. The Prime Minister added that all relevant agencies were preparing to conduct a cost evaluation to decide whether to execute electrical installation or renewable energy for about 40,000 affected families in remote areas. |
