Flower shops throughout Thailand lively during Valentine’s Day

PHITSANULOK, 14 February 2010 (NNT) – Local flower shops in many provinces throughout the country are lively due to the ongoing demand of roses.

The most popular flowers are red, pink and white roses, which range from 10 THB to 30 THB per piece, depending on their size. However, many flower shop owners said that the total sale of roses this year has decreased compared to last year, due to the economic recession and Chinese New Year, which coincides with Valentine’s Day this year.

Local flower shops in Nakhon Sawan were just as lively, as teenagers flocked to buy roses, causing a shortage of flowers. However, the price of roses in this province reached 200-500 THB per bouquet.

Meanwhile, Valentine’s Day was not a popular occasion in Chantaburi province, where most people wanted to spend time with their families during the Chinese New Year festival. The average price of roses in this province stood at 10 THB per flower and around 200-400 THB per bouquet.
