Provincial police prompted for mounting mobs

BURI RAM, 20 February 2010 (NNT) – The Provincial Police Command Division has prepared provincial police officers to deal with rallies by providing them anti-riot training.

Four police companies from the 4th Infantry Battalion were yesterday given a special training session in preparation for protests in Bangkok and other provinces. The policemen were trained for effective crowd control, emotional control and non-violent confrontations.

Deputy Commander of the 3rd provincial police division, Pol Maj Gen Prasit Thamdee, said he had instructed each provincial office to prepare 600 police officers to support peace keeping operations in Bangkok and other areas upon their request for reinforcements.
