BANGKOK, 23 February 2010 (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs, Suthep Thaugsuban, has confirmed the readiness of the government to handle the demonstrations of the anti-government United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD).
Mr Suthep stressed the readiness of security forces to maintain order in the country as he promised that the government would not let any turmoil take place in the country, such as the incident which took place last April. He however stated that the government did not consider the UDD as its enemy.
The deputy prime minister added that the government was not threatened by the planned gathering of UDD supporters to listen to the verdict of the court together on 26 February. He also shrugged off the movements of UDD supporters in 38 risky provinces.
The Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions of the Supreme Court is scheduled to deliver the verdict of the controversial 76 billion THB asset seizure case on 26 February 2010.
