BANGKOK, 3 April 2010 (NNT) – 200-300 million THB loss was reported due to today’s rally of anti-government United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) at Ratchaprasong Junction.
According to the Director of the Economic and Business Forecast Centre of the Thai Chamber of Commerce University, Tanawat Polwichai, the road blockade at the key business center in Bangkok had affected the capital city’s economy especially during the weekend.
He believed that overall outlook for the economy was not much affected by the rally, though panics might have risen among tourists.
Mr Tanawat, however, stressed further economic loss up to 5-10 billion THB if the UDD protesters aimed to prolong the rally into Songkran Festival in mid April.
