BANGKOK, 7 April 2010 (NNT) — The Commerce Ministry will inspect price marked on goods by retailers during the Songkran Festival to prevent price hike on goods.
The goods inspection was conducted by the ministry from 29 March-2 April.
Department of Internal Trade (DIT) Director-General Chutima Boonyaprapat said that the price inspection would be conducted at shops in the bus terminal, which will include correct marking of the price. Consumers can file complaints by daily 1569 if prices are found to exceed the value.
According to the Commerce Ministry, products under the food and beverage category are moving in line under the government’s sale promotion policy. The price on condensed milk, fruit juice, instant tea, oil, oyster sauce, soy sauce and chili sauce have decreased. Products with price hike include rice and milk as well as daily consumer products which have slightly increased due to increased competition and production. The price of meat and poultry products have stabilized as well as fruits.
Meanwhile, construction goods and agricultural produce have stabilized compared to last week, compared to steel prices that have slightly increased.
