BANGKOK, 17 April 2010 (NNT) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) reports billion THB turnovers during the Songkran festival in Chiang Mai.
Director of TAT’s Chiang Mai office, Chalermsak Suranant stated higher tourist arrivals in Chiang Mai during Songkran festival despite a pessimistic prediction due to the growing political conflicts.
To attract tourists, the Thai Hotels Association (THA)’s Northern Chapter, in collaboration with the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce have recently launched a promotion campaign with a 50% discount and 100,000 THB insurance package to tourists who stay at THA’s subsidiaries.
Mr Chalermsak stated that Songkran celebrations in Chiang Mai during 9-19 April 2010 should result in a turnover of one billion THB, or 100 million THB in circulation per day.
