UDD Protesters unable to leave rally site due to the seize of ID cards

BANGKOK, 22 April 2010 (NNT) – The ruling Democrats Party called on opposition Phua Thai Party to reveal the source of the video clip where the military officers were accused of attacking demonstrators of the anti-government United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) during the clashes on 10 April.

Democrat Party spokesperson, Buranat Samutarak, said the Democrat Party had requested Phua Thai Party to disclose the clip’s origin showing the attack of protesters by military officers as many flaws were discovered whilst reviewing these clips.

The spokesperson had called for the end of information distortion and to let the working team inspect the clips’ details. The death from the clashes should not be used as a tool to win political games.

In addition, over 200 UDD protesters have claimed that their ID cards were seized by their agents to prevent early leavers. Mr Buranat had informed the protesters that they can report the loss and apply for new ID cards at their local district offices.
