BANGKOK, 3 May 2010 (NNT) -The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) will investigate the alleged plot to topple the monarchy as a special case.
DSI Director-General Tharit Pengdit informed the press after the meeting with the DSI board, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban, in his capacity as head of the Center for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation (CRES), saying that the DSI had resolved to classify the case related to the alleged conspiracy to overthrow the royal institution as a special case.
The DSI has teamed up with twelve other agencies for investigating the case, comprising the Office of the Attorney-General (OAG), the Ministry of Defense, the Judge Advocate General’s Department, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, the National Intelligence Agency, the Council of National Security, the Royal Thai Army, the Special Branch Police, the Metropolitan Police Bureau, the Central Investigation Bureau, the Provincial Police and the National Police Bureau.
The DSI chief declined to give details of those behind the inauspicious plot but assured that the responsible authorities would work together to investigate the case to bring all criminals to justice.
The CRES late last month called in former Prime Minister Chavalit Yongchaiyudh for clarification after he was accused of having connection with the move to topple the monarchy. General Chavalit, also as opposition Puea Thai Party Chairperson, traveled to the 11th Infantry Regiment on the following day to submit letters with CRES officials without reporting himself in person.
