BAAC organizes rice camp for Asian youth

BANGKOK, 4 May 2010 (NNT) – The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) joins hands with the Thai Rice Foundation, the Asia-Pacific Rural and Agricultural Credit Association and the Rice Department to organize the rice camp for international youth of five Asian countries.

The rice camp has been held during 2-10 May 2010, aiming at the learning process of rice production among new generations and to encourage Thai rice farmers’ new generations to be proud of their inherited occupation. The activities will help stimulate youth to have ideas in rice production development and exchanging their experiences. Participants are 26 young people from Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand.

The youth will gain knowledge from experienced instructors, get involved in rice production including the production process, new technologies, added value creation, marketing management and also visit real producing rice farms.
