Proposed roadmap initiated for future of nation

BANGKOK, 9 May 2010 (NNT) – The five-point proposed roadmap to national and political reconciliation was deemed as the future of the country, according to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.

Speaking on his weekly talk show on Sunday, the Prime Minister reassured that the proposed reconciliation plan, including a call for a 14 Nov general election was the current government plan to end the crippling political crisis and bring peace back to the country.

He dismissed speculation that there was a hidden agenda made with the terrorism group who was disguised in the mass rallies of the anti-government United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD), and insisted that the government had no plan to grant amnesty to terrorism-related movements.

The People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) recently condemned the roadmap for national reconciliation and pleaded the Prime Minister to revise his plan and stop reconciling with the anti-government United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), which had been alleged of terrorism and conspiracy to overthrow the royal institution.

Meanwhile, the multi-color group led by MD Tul Sithisomwong backed the proposed roadmap for reconciliation, but remained opposed to a House dissolution.

Five points towards national reconciliation initiated by PM Abhisit include upholding the Monarchy, resolving fundamental problems of social injustice, enabling the media to operate constructively, establishing facts about violent incidents, and establishing mutually acceptable political rules.
