CHON BURI, 23 May 2010 (NNT) – Transportation of goods at Laem Chabang Port in the eastern province of Chon Buri is proceeding normally although the curfew has been imposed in the province, according to Deputy Commerce Minister Alongkorn Ponlaboot.
Speaking during his visit to the port, the deputy minister stated that the visit was to inspect if transportation of goods at the port was affected by the curfew imposition made by the Center for the Resolution of Emergency Situation (CRES) or not.
Mr Alongkorn confirmed that the CRES has exempted Laem Chabang Port from the curfew, but transporters of goods are required to possess authorized documents designated by the source of origin to transport the goods to the destinations.
In addition, the deputy minister assured various shipping companies at Laem Chabang that government units concerned would fully facilitate their operations, including stevedoring of goods, at the port similarly to the normal time.
