TAT expects Thailand Countdown 2011 to generate 3.6 billion baht

BANGKOK, 15 December 2010 (NNT) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is prepared to host the ‘Thailand Countdown 2011’ in 27 provinces, expecting to generate at least 3.6 billion baht.

TAT Governor Suraphon Svetasreni announced that the TAT would arrange countdown events in Bangkok and 26 other provinces across the country under the theme ‘Siam Sanook’ and ‘Sawasdee Muang Thai’ to create a fun atmosphere for Thai people and to welcome the incoming foreign revelers. Over 33 activities will be featured in the celebrations.

The TAT is spending 15 million baht to organize three major events at Ratchaprasong Intersection in Bangkok, Future Park Rangsit in Pathum Thani, and UD Town in Udon Thani.

Mr. Suraphon added that the TAT expects this year’s festivities to generate 3.6 billion baht, a 5% increase from last year, and attract about 1.3 million foreigners for the whole month of December.
