BANGKOK, 9 January 2011 (NNT) –The Ministry of Energy has revealed that there will be a big change in energy consumption in 2011, adding more alternative fuel and renewable energy would be in the spotlight and the concept of Solar House will be more common in Thailand.
Director-General of the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE) Krairit Nilkuha disclosed that in 2011the use of alternative energy resources would increase to 12-14 percent of the total energy consumption in Thailand.
As Thailand is one of many other countries in the world committed to saving energy and reducing fossil fuel consumption, more renewable energy such as biomass, bio-fuel, solar cells, wind power, among others, will be promoted and used in place of fossil fuel.
As for the solar cell industry, the ministry is prepared to review its policies doing away with restrictions pertaining to solar energy system installation in residences. Mr Krairit added that low-cost solar water heaters would also be encouraged..
