BANGKOK, 19 January 2011 (NNT) – Domestic oil refinery and retailer Bangchak Petroleum Plc is planning to increase biodiesel B100 production capacity to 400,000 liters per day this year if the government announces to use only biodiesel B5 nationwide.
According to Bangchak Petroleum President Dr Anusorn Sangnimnuan, the company has plans to increase biodiesel B100 production if the government is certain on biodiesel B5 policy. The current production capacity is at 300,000 liters per day.
The company will need about 100 million THB for investment to increase the targeted production capacity, and the investment fund will come mainly from two sources, including shares selling and partial profit of the company.
Bangchak currently produces 240,000 liters of diesel B100 daily or 60% of the total production capacity since its demand is not rising significantly because the public still have both diesels B3 and B5 as their options. In addition, there are many diesel B100 producers so the total production in the market remains high.
The company now has six storage tanks for biodiesel B100. It is investing on two additional storage tanks, each with a storing capacity of 10 million liters in order to meet with the expected increasing stock. They are projected to be completed by the end of this year.
