CHIANGMAI, 23 January 2011 (NNT)-The Ministry of Tourism and Sports is hosting a seminar on tourism business in the Mekong Subregion in Chiang Mai province for Myanmar tourism entrepreneurs with an aim to promote tourism links between the two countries.
Permanent Secretary for Tourism and Sports, Sombat Kurupan, who presided over the seminar, said that following the 16th Greater Mekhong Subregion Annual Meeting last August, Thailand proposed to host a seminar on tourism development for Myanmar entrepreneurs with all expenses paid for.
As Myanmar has welcome more tourists into the country, Thailand has all the resources necessary to help the tourism industry in Myanmar to grow. The seminar is not only to prepare Thailand’s neighboring country for one of the economic boosters; it also has an objective to draw a higher number of tourists into this region with Thailand serving as a tourism hub.
