JBIC to give loan to Thailand to provide food for the world

BANGKOK, 11 February 2011 (NNT)-Deputy Prime Minister Trairong Suwankhiri said the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) is ready to provide financial support for countries in Asia especially Thailand as one of the world’s largest food producers.

Having recently met with JBIC’s President & CEO Hiroshi Watanabe, Mr. Trairong said that Thailand has more potential to feed the world’s population in the future compared to a growing economy like China. According to Mr. Trairong, China has already reached its food production capacity while fresh food industry in Thailand has more room to grow.

The Japanese Bank is more confident in the Kingdom and has already confirmed to provide Thailand a loan for a water resource development project.
