Trat Governor comfirms no fights between Thai-Cambodian soldiers at the border

TRAT, 15 February 2011 (NNT)-Trat’s Govorner Ms. Benjawam Aanprueng revealed no tourism nor trade has been impacted since the last border fights between Thai and Cambodian soldiers. The numbers of European tourists visiting Ko Chang from Cambodia and Thai tourists going over to Ko Kong in Cambodia are as high as ever.

According to Ms. Benjawan, oversea visitors and Thai tourist traveling between Thailand’s Ko Chang and Cambodia’s Ko Kong require no visa to get through to each country since local tourism relations on both sides of the border remain strong. Trat governor added that military presence along the border is crucial for protection under any circumstances.

Every now and then, officials and military unit will be brainstorming for a new defense strategy to prepare Thailand’s frontline for all kinds of threat coming from the other side of the border. She also brushed aside the report on the battle at the border in Trat province, saying it is just a rumor.
