BANGKOK, 5 June 2011 (NNT)- Mr. Alongkorn Ponlaboot, Deputy Minister of Commerce revealed further developments on Tailand’s ASEAN Economic Community Blueprint. The latest 2010- April 2011 assessment involved 52.8 percent of the ASEAN development.
However, Thailand had progressed further with a 63.4 percent development but remained indefinite due to relapses of Custom and Communication measures as well as the protection of consumers and intellectual property. In addition, it is for the Fiscal Policy Office and the Cabinet to further push on the notion.
Mr. Alongkorn claimed that both the Fiscal Policy office and the Cabinet already faced obstables and issues in order to push Thailand into the AEC by the year 2015. All sectors will need to continue as planned and will need to stay on track of the proposed target.
In addition, the Ministry of Commerce had assigned an office of International Economic Relations in order to track the AEC Blueprint, which also involved related offices of both local and foreign in order to keep steady progress and become beneficial to Thailand in every way.
Moreover, the Ministry also plans to push the private sector to participate in ASEAN group meetings in order to directly respond to effects of the free trade agreement similar to the meeting between ASEAN and the European Union. The involvement of the private sector is therefore essential to develop a solid network in order to reflect opinions and ideas that benefit businesses in the future.
