Army concerned more violence could occur before election

BANGKOK, 29 June 2011 (NNT)-First Army Region Commander, Lt-Gen Udomdej Sitabutr expressed his concerns over the last round of political campaign this week before the election takes place on Sunday while instructing the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) to report to the police of any unrest or attacks on canvassers.

Lt Gen Udomdej also adds that the military is supporting the election despite the rumor saying otherwise about the Army. However, he said the Army is not shaken by the news. The commander has also instructed soldiers not to get involved in the transferring of the ballot boxes on the election day except when their presence is needed for security reason.
