Al-Khobar | Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: Fourth meeting of the Second Session of the Board of Directors of Educational Services Company ( TAALEM) held at Prince Mohammad bin Fahd University (PMU) recently. Chaired by HRH Prince Turki bin Mohammad bin Fahd, Chairman, Board of Directors of TAALEM and Vice Chairman, Board of Trustees of PMU, it reviewed implementation of decisions taken in the previous meetings. The Board of Directors discussed many new agendas.
PMU Rector, Dr. Issa Al-Ansari presented a detailed progress report before the Vice Chairman, Board of Directors for evaluation. TAALEM meeting lauded the achievements of PMU’s previous academic session. It focused on the implementation of information technology and initiatives taken to apply best communication tools in the University’s various study programs.
The meeting took note that PMU obtained approval from the Ministry of Higher Education to establish the College of Arts and Sciences. The meeting also focused on the steps for establishing scientific research and discussed the infrastructure and technical applications to impart knowledge.
“PMU Management believes in implementing advanced technology to smoothly run the various University operations. Also, Students are nourished as competent individuals,” said Dr. Al-Ansari. “University Management equally encourages all scholarly activities including research,” he said further.
TAALEM meeting evaluated PMU achievements and framed support avenues to conduct more research activities in the university. PMU offers Executive Masters program in Business Administration besides bachelor courses in several disciplines. This university will start Masters Program in Education and Human Resource Development very soon.
PMU balance sheet approval for the previous financial year, follow-up of earlier decisions and the discussion about estimated budget for the year 2011-2012 were other major discussion topics.
The meeting focused on the future plan of action for the Prince Naïf bin Abdulaziz Youth Development Chair. Also, HRH Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd, as President of the Founding Committee of Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz College for the Visually Impaired, discussed a work progress report towards establishing the College with the committee members.
Reports about the initiatives taken for its establishment especially land allocation and licensing from the respective Ministries for financial and other supports were brought into limelight in this meeting.
