BANGKOK, 9 July 2009 (NNT) – Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI)’s President Nipon Poapongsakorn called on the government to make clear on its economic stimulus measures to restore confidence amongst private and consumwe sectora.
Mr. Nipon believed that the improvement of the global economy would not be possible for several years due to the imbalance of the macro economy. In this connection, he said Thailand, which mainly relies on the global economy, must adjust itself in line with the current economic situations.
By adjusting itself, Mr. Nipon elaborated Thailand should create its own market to compensate its poor exports by introducing the government’s economic stimulus measures with clearer directions. He said the measures should include plans and frameworks to repay the debts to its debtors in order to prevent an over proportion of liability against current gross domestic product (GDP).
With the clear cut directions on the measures, Mr. Nipon said it would help restore confidence amongst the private sector to invest in Thailand, which would yield benefits on private consumption as well.
