NEW YORK, September 12, 2012 – Throughout its history, the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) has recognized and honored the shopping centre industry’s most cutting-edge properties, innovative solutions and creative responses to market trends, as well as outstanding examples of design and development throughout the world through its Global Awards programs. As part of the shopping centre industry’s premier awards competition, ICSC is pleased to announce that Terminal21, Bangkok, Thailand, was selected as a silver award winner in the 2012 Asia Pacific Shopping Centre Awards competition. The 2012 ICSC Asia Pacific Shopping Centre Awards recognize outstanding achievement in marketing and design and development of retail properties throughout Asia.
Terminal21 received its silver award in the digital media marketing category, which promotes strategic programmes and plans that include websites, online branding campaigns, social media (blogs, social media sites) and/or mobile marketing (text messaging, mobile websites, mobile directories, etc.) to achieve brand and marketing communication goals for a shopping centre or company. Following the devastating floods in Thailand, new Bangkok CBD centre Terminal 21 utilized social media to reach and engage with customers through its Terminal21 digital media campaign. Creating a Facebook page to provide an outlet for its customers to express and share stories of happier times was at the core of the strategy. Within months the centre had become the number 1 liked shopping centre Facebook page in Thailand and has strongly increased and leveraged its social media audience.
Professional recognition for this award was given to Prasert Sriuranpong, executive director, and Torsak Busaranon, General Manager, of Terminal21.
