Asia’s LNG Industry Development A Key Focus At OSEA2012 International Conference Highly anticipated discussions of issues, trends, challenges and innovative solutions from industry luminaries

Singapore, Nov 6, 2012 – (ACN Newswire) – With demand for energy increasing as developing countries push for greater economic growth, more and more companies are looking to alternative sources of supply such as LNG. Plans are afoot to further develop the natural gas and LNG industry in Asia. These developments will bring about important issues and challenges, and the OSEA2012 International Conference is Asia’s most sought after business and technical knowledge platform that connects both business and technology experts together for knowledge exchange and frank discussions.

The OSEA2012 International Conference’s “Natural Gas & LNG Developments” track on 29 November 2012 at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, will be packed with presentations and engaging discussions led by industry visionaries from across Asia and beyond. Speakers hail from academia and business sectors, such as Dr. Hooman Peimani, Principal Fellow and Head, Energy Security Division, Energy Studies Institute, National University of Singapore (NUS); Mr. Phil Rae from Intuition Energy Associates; Mr. Jason Waldie from Douglas-Westwood, and many others. The spotlight on LNG will turn to insights on the development and prospects of the industry in the Asian region as speakers share their experience and insights with delegates.

Some of these insights were brought to light at a media conversation held today with Dr. Hooman Peimani and Mr. Stephen Tan, Chief Executive of Singapore Exhibition Services (SES) and organiser of OSEA2012. Dr. Hooman Peimani gave media attendees an overview on current developments of the LNG industry in Asia and its corresponding economic, social and environmental impacts whilst Mr. Stephen Tan shared exciting key highlights and record-breaking statistics of OSEA2012, the largest edition ever.

Developing LNG Investments with optimal positive impact

The Asia Pacific region is emerging as a source for natural gas, with reserves found in Australia, China, Indonesia and others. Natural gas is increasingly being considered as the fuel of choice for the near future, as it is less polluting than oil and coal. Forecasters expect demand to grow by 50 per cent by 2030.

Sharing his research experience at the media conversation today, Dr. Hooman Peimani comments, “The future energy mix will become crucial for the Asian region as economies continue to emerge and develop. How the energy industry develops across the region will depend on the types of energy that is in demand in each country. I will be shedding more insight into this and how to promote energy security at the OSEA2012 International Conference.”

Dr. Peimani will be presenting his keynote “Developing the LNG Industry to Promote Energy Security” on 29 November at 9.40am. He will be discussing how countries can meet the rapidly expanding energy demand to ensure economic growth and assuage the associated environmental impact, the considerations for securing the required types of energy and supply routes, and the role of LNG to the energy industry and how it can be further developed.

OSEA2012 Exhibition and Conference topped previous records prior to opening

OSEA2012, with its exhibition space fully sold out since March 2012, has already recorded an overall growth of 14.6 per cent compared to its previous edition. Occupying two levels of exhibition space, or more than 31,000 square metres at the Marina Bay Sands, the exhibition will play host to a congregation of over 1,400 international exhibitors from 45 countries/regions.

“Over the years, OSEA has evolved to stay relevant alongside the developments in engineering innovation and the changing needs of the Oil & Gas industry. This year’s OSEA will focus on exciting new offerings from industry leaders as well as promising SMEs from around the world, ranging from offshore to onshore, shipyards to rigging and production to process solutions,” says Mr. Stephen Tan.
