BANGKOK, 7 July 2009 (NNT) – The Public Health Ministry announced that an 8 year old girl in Phetchaburi province infected with the influenza A (H1N1) had passed away and was pronounced the ninth fatality of the country.
The Ministry of Public Health today declared an additional 156 A (H1N1) infections, which brought up the accumulated number of flu infected patients in the country to 2,428. A total of 40 infected patients currently remain in hospital with one being closely monitored.
Director-General of the Department of Medical Services, Dr. Rewat Wisarutwej, indicated that 2 deaths from the A (H1N1) flu had been confirmed today. The first of the two was a 58 year old male patient of Rajavithi Hospital, who suffered a series of complications including kidney failure and pneumonia. Shortly afterwards, an 8 year old Phetchaburi resident was pronounced dead after experiencing a low blood platelet count, rounding up the death toll of Thailand to 9.
