BANGKOK, 16 May 2010 (NNT) – The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) subway and the Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) skytrain will remain closed at all stations after the rally situation around Bangkok’s commercial district remains intense.
Major General Chatchai Praditpong, Bangkok Metro Public Company Limited (BMCL) Director of Event Support and Promotion, disclosed that the MRT services would still be halted today for the safety of passengers and staff as the political standoff around the city remains intense. He said the company would closely evaluate the situation and would later announce the result to the public for further updates of the operation. MRT information can be inquired at 02-624-5200.
Meanwhile, the BTS skytrain services will remain suspended at all stations for safety reasons. The BTS hotline can be reached at 02-617-6000.
