Authorities preparing Government House for protests tomorrow

BANGKOK, 29 August 2009 (NNT) – Authorities tasked with securing Government House from protests tomorrow have begun to place concrete barricades throughout the compound with a handful of military personnel arriving on the scene.

Reports have indicated that preparations are underway to secure Government House from United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) major rally scheduled for tomorrow. Many sides have speculated that the group will be aggressive in its pursuit to pressure the Prime Minister to step down. Authorities, including members of the military, have made their way to the compound and have begun to construct a fence around the buildings of Government House to deter trespassing.

Concrete slabs have been used to shut down several roads surrounding the place. The roads have been discontinued throughout the enforcement of the Internal Security Act in the area, starting from today to 1 September.
