Singapore, Nov 21, 2013 – (ACN Newswire) – Avnet Technology Solutions, a solutions distribution leader and an operating group of Avnet, Inc., (NYSE: AVT), announced that it has been authorized by EMC to distribute its products and solutions portfolio for the Singapore market. As part of the agreement, Avnet will provide its independent software vendor (ISV), system integrator (SI) and value-added reseller (VAR) partners with EMC technology, including products for converged infrastructure[1] and data solutions related to Big Data, cloud computing, and storage. In addition, Avnet partners can take advantage of Avnet’s assembly and integration services to offer pre-configured, fully-tested solutions based on EMC technology, which can be delivered to customers’ sites with certified shipping.
The distribution agreement brings Avnet and EMC together in the Asia Pacific region for the first time and provides the opportunity to expand their relationship throughout the region to offer its ecosystem of business partners with EMC offerings. Avnet recently expanded its distribution agreement with EMC to include four more countries in Latin America and the Caribbean bringing the number to a total of 20 countries worldwide.
“Organizations demand new technologies to optimize their business efficiencies in a cost-effective manner. Ultimately, they want to serve their customers better, and EMC’s technology and solutions offer compelling means to achieve that,” said William Chu, president, Avnet Technology Solutions, Asia Pacific. “For instance, EMC VSPEX Proven Infrastructure solutions – which are only available through the channel – can help our resellers’ customers consolidate data centres resulting in streamlined management and operational costs associated with space, power and cooling.”
“Avnet and its business partners have a solid track record and deep expertise in the Singapore market. We count on Avnet to leverage a very successful relationship in the U.S. and the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region and bring their best practices into this local relationship in Singapore,” said Heng Loon Chee, director, channels, Southeast Asia, EMC. “Together, we look forward to addressing the needs of our enterprise customers for a comprehensive and reliable converged infrastructure and data solutions to achieve their business goals.”
Avnet Technology Solutions’ technical expertise, knowledge of the market and trusted business relationships will enable EMC to strengthen its presence in Singapore and efficiently capitalize on new business opportunities with its range of solutions.
“There’s no more exciting time in IT than right now. Converged infrastructure is a terrific example of the ongoing IT transformation; it encapsulates multiple IT components into a single, powerful computing solution for modern enterprises,” said Phil Gallagher, global president, Avnet Technology Solutions. “The EMC and Avnet relationship spans more than a decade. Our expansion into the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific is testament to EMC’s confidence in Avnet’s capability as an IT solutions distributor. We remain dedicated to growing this global relationship as we continue to leverage our global resources, best practices and services.”
Partners can rely on Avnet as a single source for a variety of complementary technology that they can use to design and develop complete solutions for their customers. Avnet’s local EMC partners will have access to a broad range of resources, services and tools designed to accelerate their success. In particular, partners can leverage Avnet’s assembly and integration services to offer pre-configured, fully-tested solutions based on EMC technology – such as VSPEX – which can be delivered to customers’ sites with certified shipping. Additionally, Avnet supports its global channel community with demand generation, pre-sales and technical expertise, training and development, and financial and logistics services.
[1] Technology research and advisory firm IDC estimates that total worldwide spending on converged infrastructure will reach US$17.8 billion in 2016. Converged infrastructure will account for 12.8 percent of total storage, server, networking and software spending in the same period, according to IDC.
