BANGKOK, 6 February 2010 (NNT) – The Bank of Thailand (BoT) is going to send teams to local areas to collect economic data for an analysis of the Thai economy by the Monetary Policy Committee.
Senior Director of the BoT’s Domestic Economy Department, Suchart Sakkankosone, said the data to be gathered on 9 February was from all economic sectors, including the production, tourism and agriculture. The teams will be dispatched to all regions across the country. The collected data will be submitted to the Monetary Policy Committee whose meeting is scheduled on 10 March. Despite the production sector’s improving figures, some businesses in the group have seen a production decline, especially textiles. The BoT will look into the details to see whether the cutback was caused by diminishing demand or the relocation of the production base. |
