Cabinet endorses ISA enforcement during UDD rally

BANGKOK, 25 August 2009 (NNT) – The cabinet has resolved to approve the invocation of the Internal Security Act in the Dusit district of Bangkok during 29 August to 1 September 2009.

Deputy Government Spokesman, Supachai Jaisamut, told the press after the cabinet meeting that the cabinet had endorsed the enforcement of the Internal Security Act in an effort to maintain law and order during the mass rally of the United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), which would be held on 30 August.

Mr Supachai said Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs Suthep Thaugsuban was assigned to spearhead the imposition of the security act.
