BANGKOK, 14 July 2009 (NNT) – Today’s Cabinet meeting will focus on stepping up measures to combat the spread of influenza A (H1N1).
Deputy Prime Minister, Major General Sanan Kajornprasart, will request a budget of 70 million baht from the Cabinet for publicizing safeguarding measures against swine flu to the public, including the wearing of masks and other actions. The Cabinet on the whole will focus on increasing efforts to counteract the spread of the new flu strain as the death toll has risen to over 20 people with over 3,000 infections.
Today’s meeting will also deal with agricultural issues. Deputy Prime Minister Korbsak Sabhavasu will propose a price guarantee project for cassava and maize. The guaranteed price for cassava will be 1.70 baht per kilogram and 7.10 baht per kilogram for maize.
The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security will request the Cabinet to complete 280,000 units of residences under the Ua Arthorn project so that they project can be closed.
In addition, the Internal Security Operations Command will request the Cabinet to extend the enforcement of Emergency Decree in the 3 southern border provinces for 3 more months.
