BANGKOK, 21 April 2010 (NNT) – Car exports for March 2010 grew 42.93% year-on-year with a total value of 29.84 billion THB, according to the latest report from the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).

The substantial increase resulted from rising purchasing orders from all markets, except those in the Middle East.
A total of 196,537 cars were exported in the first quarter of 2010, increasing by 41.59% year-on-year, with a total value of 92.74 billion THB, or 46.33% higher than the first quarter of 2009. The car production volume in March 2010 reached a record high of 150,119 units, which was 129.37% higher year-on-year and 17.42% higher than February this year. Meanwhile, the car sales volume in the first quarter stood at 166,802 units, or 54.8% higher than the same period of last year. A total of 63,067 cars were sold in March alone, or 52.6% higher year-on-year and 16.4% higher than the previous month.
The sales increase was a result of the rising purchasing orders during the 31st Bangkok International Motor Show recently organized at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center (BITEC).
